Cabinet card of a middle-aged Mark Twain by Sarony

Sticker on back of Haines & Co. Importers, 1430 Chestnut, Philadelphia. 6.5 x 4", card trimmed in red with red lettering. Obverse has light wear/soiling, reverse has fingerprints/smudging, Twain's name in pencil. Overall, very good to fine condition. In 1884-1885, Mark Twain and his friend George Sarony took photographs of Twain and Cable prior to the fall of 1884, before the tour started in November. The image of Twain matches one of the photographs taken at that time. Some of Twain's most famous photographs were taken by Napoleon Sarony...SCARCE.
