Gilt trimmed wood from 12 x 10.5", citation is approximately 9.5 x 12", decorative design in red, blue and gold with black lettering. Frame has some light nicks and scratches, certificate has a couple of light spots, appears very good, not examined out of frame. Leon J. Pinkson, automobile editor since 1907 of the San Francisco Chronicle was being honored for his contributions to the automotive industry. In part "his strenuous campaign sponsoring the building of...the Golden Gate Bridge", "instrumental in the passage of many laws in California aimed to promote automobile ownership." The "Automobile Old Timers" was comprised of well-known men in the automotive industry ie. Henry Ford, Ransom Olds, Gar Wood, Charles Kettering. The group wished to honor members whose activities dated back forty or more years. The first awards were given out in New York in 1940 at their second annual luncheon which was held at the Hotel Roosevelt. SIGNED BY BOTH ALFRED P.
