8 x 5", full leather, ink name on front cover "Land Office July 9th 1892 Township No. 47 North Range No. 3 West. Robt. Brown", handwritten, 64/144 pages filled in. Covers worn, stained, scorch marks, spine peeling, some of the ink faint, outer/inner hinges cracked, soiling, light staining and wrinkling to first few/last pages, a couple of edge tears else good condition. Handwriting is very legible and contents were recorded very neatly. Although Chippewa County is not mentioned in the notes there are places mentioned that are in that county: "Point of land on right bank of the Ste. St. Marie River...on Canada side Left Bank of the St. Marie" and "Point of Land bears N. 85 W. about 6 mile dist. Intersect Tah-qua-me-naw Bay of Lake Superior." Affixed to a page at the back of the handwritten entries is a printed document from the state of Michigan in which the Commissioner of the State Land Office certifies that the contents are a true copy of the original which is in his office.
