8 x 5.25", pict rust-colored cloth, 347pp, covers heavily worn and darkened (especially spine), extremities bumped and fraying, spine with old, mangled paper glued-on, rear cover with several scratches, spine cocked, hinges quite loose (but not cracked), textblock well worn and toned; sepia tone photo of Sherwood Anderson cello-taped inside front cover. A well worn, used and abused copy. SWAF. FIRST EDITION OF AUTHOR'S FIRST BOOK, BOLDLY INSCRIBED "To my Friend Marietta Finley" AND SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. Finley was a long-time friend of Anderson's; a book of letters between Anderson and Finley was later published. Interestingly, the 1916 Blue Book for Indianapolis lists Finley as the Vice-President of The Players Club, with Kurt Vonnegut (Sr.) as the President. Now there's a neat literary connection; Sherwood Anderson to Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. in just a few short degrees of separation!
