Six full page steel engravings by J. Noel Paton, 17 x 12", blindstamped green cloth, gilt cover lettering, unpaginated. Spine tips and corners worn, edgeworn with some bumping, inner hinges cracked, foxed (foxing on back of plates), soiling/smudging else very good condition. From the book it is indicated that "it is founded upon an event in real life. The parties were John Scott of Tushielaw, and his brother-in-law, Walter Scott, third son of Robert Scott of Thirlstane...they have chosen Yarrow for their...dueling...We are further informed by Sir Walter Scott that, according to tradition, the murderer was the brother of either the wife, or the betrothed bride, of the murdered (John Scott)..."
