Front outer/inner hinge cracked, spine tip missing small piece, extremities/corners worn, covers have scratches and scattered staining, free front endpaper almost detached, endpapers soiled, occasional smudging/soiling to text, light foxing, ink name on front pastedown, pencil scribble on rear pastedown else very good condition. Ink name is that of Hugh Paton, possibly the Scottish businessman of the same name who came to Canada in 1871, but we cannot verify it. SCARCE TITLE. FIRST EDITION.
