Twelve full page illus. and text illus., 7.5 x 6", pict boards, paper illus. of a child on the back cover, 78pp. Covers well worn, warped, stained, chipped, corners/spine tips bumped and worn, pencil inscription from 1888, small note about 1888 snowstorm affixed to front endpaper, waterstaining to margins and page edges, soiling, spotting, occasional pencil scribble. Julia Daniels, 1845-1917, moved to Florida in the 1880s with her husband Charles Scott Moseley, 1828-1918, looking for a warmer climate. An artist, she found inspiration in her surroundings. A palmetto fiber wall covering that she designed was exhibited at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair and still exists today. Their house, The Nest, is on the National Register of Historic Places.
