Almost all photos and postcards are identified either by hand in ink or printed. Owner's name is not inside either album, some of the travelers are identified. The S.S. Duchess of Bedford made her maiden voyage on her way to pick up these travelers. A handful of photos show another group returning on the S.S. Montroyal with a date of 8-13-1928. In that group are Ismaiha Shriners. Two large groups of friends etc. travelling to Europe but no information is given linking one to the other except for the phrase "one of the groups." Countries and some of the sites shown: Scotland (Glasgow, Loch Katrine, Inversnaid), England (Westminster, the Tower, postcards of the Royal Family), Holland (Volendam, Marken), Belgium (Brussels), France (Paris: ie Notre Dame, Opera House, Versailles, Fontainebleau, Rheims, Cherbourg). Also one photo of the S.S. Athenia and S.S. Doric. Of special interest are the World War I images ie. Rheims in ruins and Belleau Woods. Seen in Belleau Woods: German dugouts and trenches, German machine guns, Von Hindenburg's headquarters and dugout, monuments to the 3rd Division and Lt. Quentin Roosevelt plus more. The Battle of Belleau Woods took place from June 1-25, 1918 and Armistice took place on November 11th of the same year. Was the 10th anniversary of the end of World War I of special significance to these travelers, unfortunately there are no personal notes. Interesting. Sold as a pair.
