[Locofoco] 25 x 17.5", unpaginated, (4pp). Light creasing and soiling, scattered spotting, folded in half, edge tears, chipping else very good condition. Some of the articles: "Singular Case of Imprisonment. Capt. William Powell whose vessel sails between Norfolk and New York writes "I have this day been arrested by the abolitionists on account of returning to Norfolk, last February, with the two slaves I found on board the schooner Empire...", the Mexican War "Santa Anna had a force of about seven thousand men at Vera Cruz...", Locofoco Party (a radical wing of the Democratic Party). Ads: "Negroes wanted. Notice to all persons having Negro property for sale can find a purchaser, at highest cash prices, by calling at the jail, in Louisville, or on the subscriber, at Galt House" and illustrated with the images of a male and female slave, "Wanted, A stout healthy, NEGRO BOY, about 14 years old to do housework. One from the country would be preferred" and illustrated with the same male image as the previous ad, "Negro Linsey and Jeans", Dr. Budd's Pile and Tetter ointment, plantation molasses, Spanish Float Indigo, Turk's Island Salt, stearine candles, Mississippi cotton, artificial legs, wig making, the last two ads illustrated.
