Early reprint of a photograph by Anchorage, Alaska photographer Alberta Pyatt: "Close Play Recreation Park July 4, 1916" showing a large crowd at a baseball game watching as a player slides into home plate

The photographer's last name, Pyatt, is seen in the lower left corner of the image. Oblong 7 x 11", black and white. Light creasing, tiny tear on lower margin else very good condition. Written in pencil on the reverse "1915". Image is a close-up view of the action at home plate, the third base side of the field is lined with men with a few women near the outfield, in the background are a few small structures and tents. Anchorage, founded in 1914, had a baseball diamond as early as 1916 in Recreation Park created by railroad engineers. Alberta Pyatt worked for Anchorage photographer and painter Sydney Laurence in 1915-1916. According to the Alaska State Library-Historical Collection, not much is known about Pyatt except that she took photos in Anchorange of the residents, scenery and events. Pyatt photos are very SCARCE, even as a reprint.
