Letter to Mrs. Clarinda Gardner, Birmingham, Michigan, dated 24th September 1850 from her brother, Birmingham native Horace Peck who was residing in Laconia, Desha County, Arkansas.

10 x 8" and opens up to 10 x 15.5", embossed with the initials "P&S", stamped Laconia Ark, "black 10", Oct. 1. Fold creases, creasing, small holes, tears, scattered spotting, offsetting else good condition. He writes to his "Dear Sister" that he received her letter telling him of their father's death, doesn't know when he can come home and that since the property will be divided soon he assigns "all my Right and clame (sic) to Father's Estate and property to Clarinda Gardner my sister". Family news: Marandy married Mr. Philips, asks after Moses, misses his relatives and hopes they will come and see him and Lucy.
