The Zanerian College of Penmanship was founded in 1888 in Columbus, Ohio. In 1904, the company published "The Zaner Method of Arm Movement", a simplified approach to writing that was taught at Zaner was now being made available to elementary students countrywide. Fannie M. Salo travelled a long distance from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to attend this college, she was not quite sixteen when she received her certificate.
