209 b&w photos, almost all labeled, 2 x 2.75 to 4 x 6, plus one loose photo oblong 7 x 9, for a total of 210 photos. Album is oblong 8 x 11.5, gilt stamped brown leather, 50 pages. Covers are very well worn (creased, chipping, peeling, etc.), lacks couple pieces on the spine, pages have light creasing and soling, four blank pages (including endpapers), photos are clear, sharp and very good. A sampling of the contents: Madeira: The Slide, Rock of Gibraltar, Algiers: harbor, Capri, Mt Vesuvius, Pompeii, Florence: Giotto's Tower, San Gimignano: "Young Fascists," Siena: The Campanile, Pisa: The Leaning Tower, Rome: Colosseum, Tivoli: Hadrian's Villa, Venice: Doge's Palace, Milan: Cathedral, Toarmina: Greek Theatre, Swiss Alps, France: Versailles, Greece: the Parthenon, Nazareth: Mary's Wall, Egypt: the Sphinx, Cairo: camel tour, Memphis: Ramses II. The loose photo shows the travelers seated on camels posing with their guides in front of the Great Sphinx, on the reverse are their names and date of 1927. This photo comes with its negative. Comes with: a business card for "Ahmed Mohamed Daoud, American Express Dragoman, Add. P.O. Pyramids, Cairo, Egypt." Also comes with: the deluxe class passenger list for the S.S. Duilio for the "Special wsinter Voyage from New York February 17, 1927." 7.5 x 5, printed stapled wraps, (24 pp), light soiling and wear else good/very good. Includes in addition to the passengr list, a list of executive staff, general information, i.e., the Marconi station, advertisements for their other vessels/cruises. A fantastic pre-WWII travel album. Grand total of 210 photos including the wonderful loose photo of the travelers posing in front of the Great Sphinx plus one negative plus business card (American Expres Dragoman) plus passenger list. Sold as a lot.
