Extra-illustr title; 26 full page engraved plates, 12.75 x 9.75, highly gilt decorated blue cloth, aeg, 80 pp, cover rubbed and lightly soiled, extremities bumped and fraying, ink inscription from former owner, hinges loose and inner hinges cracking, much spotting and foxing (esp to endpapers but to text and illustr too). WITH: Short Autograph Note Signed by Mary Eastman concerning slavery: "Though born of ___ Anti-Slavery parents and sympathetic with the movement from childhood, my privilege as a worker came later--in the cause of no man's Emancipation." 5 x 4, 4 pp with writing on 2 pp, folds, mounting abrasion on last pp. Interesting.
