The Kemper Thomas Printing Co, Cin't, O. 13 x 7 including wooden handle, paper fan has scalloped edges with a colorful winter scene surrounded by gilt decoration on one side and advertising on the reverse. Fan has creasing, tears, staining, chipping, pencil note "To Mother," fan is still firmly attached to its handle, fair/good. An early pioneer of Birmingham, Michigan, was George Blakeslee, born there in 1828. He owned a mercantile/hardware, a sawmill and was involved in local politics. He had one surviving son Eli who was most likely the father of J.R. who was born in 1878. "Good goods And Low Prices. Examine our Stock."
