JOHNSTON'S CHART OF THE BALTIC SEA with Enlarged Plans of Kronstadt and St. Petersburg 1854. [Crimean War].

Linen backed paper, folding chart, 9 x 5 and opens up to oblong 13 x 20.5, b&w with green colored seas. Removed, edges have fraying, chipping, small tears, creasing, light soiling and spotting, linen backing has light stains and heavier spotting else good. On back is a faint impression of the outside cover for the chart, lists the title, publisher and has pencil outlines to the first part of the title. Map shows Ireland, England, Scotland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden, of France, Belgium, Holland, Prussia and Russia and the North and Baltic Seas. Map was issued so that the world could follow the actions of the Crimean War that went from 1853-1858. Johnston has marked "Fortified Places Thus*". Some of these fortified places are Dieppe, Antwerp, Lubeck, Magdeburg, Christianstad, Malmoe, Danzig, Riga, Kronstadt. Someone has drawn in pencil a tiny sailing vessel in the Baltic Sea.
