The steamer Put-in-Bay, part of the Ashley and Dustin Steamer Line, was launched in Detroit on March 25, 1911. The ship traveled between Detroit and Sandusky, Ohio, with stops at Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island and at Cedar Point, Ohio. It continued on this route until 1949 when the route changed from Detroit to Sandusky to Detroit to Port Huron, Michigan, for a short period of time until it was scrapped in 1953. The J.W. Westcott Company was established in 1874 by Capt. J.W. Westcott who delivered supplies (and mail in 1895) in a rowboat to passing ships. The mailboat, J.W. Westcott I was purchased in 1910, the company moved to the foot of First Street in 1913 which could be the location for this photo. Nice clean image.
