Illustr, 12.5 x 9.5, brown cloth with gilt lettering, patterned endpapers, (48) pp per issue. Covers well worn, soiled, spotted, scratched, snagged, corners and spine tips bumped, worn and fraying, spine cover of first volume torn, inner hinges cracked and covers loose (esp first volume), toned, soiled, tears, typed table of contents attached to each of the front pastedowns, first volume has the most wear: text block cracked, detached/loose pages, most of the problems are in no. 1, all pages present on both, second volume in good condition. There are a total of 17 original autographs, signed on their portraits (a few are dated 1895 or 1896). There are: Henry Clay Barnabee, Jessie Bartlett Davis, Eugene Cowles, William H. MacDonald, Nat C. Goodwin, Bertha Waltzinger, Herbert Kelcey, Effie Shannon, Marie Wainwright, Henry E. Dixey, Isabel Irving, Viola Allen, DeWolf Hopper, Chauncey Olcott (inscription present, almost all of the signature is off the page), Jame K. Hackett, Annie Irish and Ferdinand Gottschalk. Scarce publication, even more so with the addition of these autographs. Sold as is/as a "set" only.
