25 full page color plates (Vol XVIII: 13 and Vol XXI:12), both green cloth with gilt lettering on spines, 332, 300. Covers have soiling, staining, bumped corners and spine tips. Vol XVIII: ink name, spotting and soiling to endpapers, staining to title page and next few pages, pencil lines along text, p 155-158 lacks upper corners, tiny holes in margins of several pages and a couple of plates, appears to be binder's errors else good/very good. Volume XXI: spotting and soiling to endpapers, occasional soiling, toned pages, pencil lines and notes along text rear inner hinge cracked else good/very good. Contains articles on bedding plants, propagation, cultivation, forcing, flower garden design, arrangement of American plants, etc. in addition to articles on many varieities of flowers. Some of the gorgeous plates show these plants: chrysanthemum, lisianthus, delphinium, begonia, oxalis, penstemon and a foldout plate of a gloxinia. Sold as a pair. Scarce.
