Group of Photos and Press Clippings belonging to theatre actress Dorothy McClelland of Erie, Pennsylvania, clippings including reviews of her performances in plays put on by the Civic University Theatre Federal Players of Syracuse, NY.

Photos range in size from 1.25 x 5.5 -13.5 x 10, three are cabinet cards, mainly in good condition, some light creasing, soiling and rubbing, removal marks, cabinet cards have soiling and staining on the mounts and scratches to the images. Three photogs are listed, two on cabinet cards: McDonnell, Erie, PA and C&C Picture Co., Erie, PA and one on the studio portrait: Lindenmuth Studios, Allentown, PA (Arlington N. Lindenmuth, 1856-1950, was one of the earliest professional photogs in the Lehigh Valley also a landscape and portrait painter). There are a total of 17 photos, of which 10 are studio portraits (including cabinet cards), of these four are of an adult Dorothy, the remainder are family photos. There are photos of her as a baby all the way up to preteen, photos include also her immediate family. Included with the photos was her parents’ marriage certificate, dated April 29, 1901, Milesgrove, PA, certificate is worn with crease tears. The clippings are from the Jewish Leader, 1937, regarding Dorothy judging a beauty contest; the Syracuse Post Standard, 1936, and the Syracuse Herald 1937 list her appearances in the plays "Ned McCobb’s Daughter" and "They Know What They Wanted" when she was part of the Civic University Theatre Federal Players of Syracuse, NY. Plus, there is an undated clipping from when she appeared in "The Patsy" at the Lyceum Theatre (Syracuse?) where she gets a glowing review. Also receiving a glowing review is a newcomer, Hazel Hilliard, the mother of Harriet Hilliard Nelson of Ozzie & Harriet fame. Clippings are brittle with tears. A total of 22 pieces, sold as a lot only.
