Vignettes, 6.75 x 4, blindstamped full leather, raised bands, clasps, (4) + 572 + (24) + (22), double-column pages. Covers well worn, rubbed, corners bumped and worn, spine tips torn, upper tip missing small piece, scratched, worn along outer hinges, spine leather chipping, one clasp with the leather strap has broken off but is present, other clasp is still firmly attached and does "lock," inner hinges cracked, ink and pencil names on endpapers, a few tears (majority are small), toning, spotting, creased corners, staining, page edges spotted and stained. In 1778, a bookbinder in Germantown named Siebert and his son-in-law, Michael Billmeyer, purchased through a third party bible sheets and printing materials that were part of the auction of the estate of Christopher Sower II, son of Christopher Sower who published earlier editions of this book and who published the first Bible in the New World in a European language.
