Victorian Manuscript Album with Handwritten Poems in French, anonymous dated 1843-1845.

Lavender watered silk covers with gilt ruling and decoration, watermark "Superfine Bath" with a crown in the center, irregular pagination (58 unlined pages, 13 are blank). Covers well worn, faded, rubbed, frayed, some staining, spine tips lacking, text block detached from covers, endpapers soiled, most of free front endpaper removed, loose signatures, detached page, soiling, chipping, small tears, couple of pages missing small part of lower margin (doesn’t interfere with text). There are 14 individual poems, legibly written in brown ink, after that section the same poems are repeated, in different color ink and appear to be the rough draft (lines crossed out etc.) and after that there are three more individual poems (brief) in the same brown ink for a total of 17 poems. Titles are: Elegie Dedie a E.R.; Une Mere a Mme. P; Un Regard a Mlle. A; Reve a Mlle. A.; Reve a R.E.; Hymne ay Seigneur a Mme. P.; Hyme a la Nuit; Pensee du Soir; A un Exile; Complainte a Mlle. A.P.; Complainte a Mlle A.P; Les Deux Pinsons Fable; Elegie; Complainte; Les Deux Pinsons; Elegie and one untitled. Some share the same title but all are different. Mostly romantic in nature. Sold as is.
