30 mounted photos, 13 x 10, rough cloth, unpag, covers darkened and worn, extremities bumped and badly fraying, spine bottom rough, front cover and first few pp water stained, contents toned but still a striking volume. The black and white photos show the atrocities of Lidice by the Nazis, and the speech of President E. Benes on June 10th, 1945; the text of his speech is included in this book. The book is inscribed "To Joseph E. Davies, the striver, is this volume humbly dedicated" and signed by V.S. Nurbacy, "ambassador." Davies was the second US Ambassador to the Soviet Union, and head of FDR's War Relief Board; he was also named Ambassador at the Potsdam Conference in 1945, among many other positions. Scarce.
