8.5 x 11, letterhead, map on the reverse showing the railroad's routes through southeastern Michigan and the Thumb area. Creasing, soiling, small tears else good. Handy thanks the recipient for his past cooperation, hoped that it was beneficial and wants to call his attention to a "further benefit." "We have purchased the Marine Sugar Factory at Marine City . . . we must depend on our friends along our road for sugar beets. . . hope you will favor us with your acreage, which will assist us in making the sugar industry a success." The Detroit, Bay City & Western Railroad Company was started in 1907 by the Handy Bros. of Bay City and was completed in 1916. It ran two passenger trains daily until 1925 when competition from cars and trucks drove it to bankruptcy.
