Account book of pharmacy student, Fred von Walthausen, dated 1894 - 1898, listing his personal expenditures and school expenditures, including the purchases of a pharmacoepia and "Remington's Practice of Pharmacy," laboratory fees and materials, botanical

(1897 ends in October with one entry for 1898). 6 x 3.5, printed wraps, "Memorandum" printed on front cover, lined, unpag (42 pages are filled in). Covers have light soiling, spotting, spine cover fraying with small holes, ink name of owner on front cover and first page, contents good. Basic expenditures for postcards, street car fares, medicine, doctor, room rent, laundry, etc. The school expenditures include fees for matriculation, laboratory, botanical; purchases include pharmacy textbooks, test tube cleaner, botanical supplies, litmus, prep bottles, potassium hydrate, hydrochloric acid, morphine (only 5 cents!); graduation (photographs, diploma fee and holder). There is no mention of where von Walthausen lived or attended school. However, in June of 1896 he wrote "Board at Star Is." Star Island is part of the St. Clair Flats, located on the St. Clair River near Detroit.
