Detroit, nd (c 1889-1893. Item #97-9187
6 x 3, card stock. Well worn, creased, soiled, spotted, stained on lower corner, chipping. Printed on one side is a list of various types of entertainment: battle reenactments, military band concerts, fireworks. On the reverse is a chromolithograph of "Pains Siege of Sebastopol." The Fair had various buildings erected especially for it, canals with pleasure boats, lots of entertainment -- all for only 10 days each year. It was conceived to be an annual event, with an emphasis on science and technology but it paled in comparison to Chicago's Columbian Exposition and eventually closed in 1893.
