Two pages, 11 x 8.5, on plain paper, folds, toning, edge wear. Fred Knoll, Luckner's secretary, writes Luckner's name at end of letter, and writes five line inscription in German on cover letter, with his signature and date (May 9); Niezychowski contributes a signed ("Alfred') inscription passing this along to another person ("Louis") and inkstamps the cover letter with his name and address (in Grosse Pointe, MI). Luckner, the Sea Devil, and Niezychowski both garnered fame through their exploits in the German Navy during World War I, and in best-selling books after the war.
