Five chromolithographic pop-ups and text illustr, 13 x 10, boards w/pict front cover, spine is red cloth, unpag (32pp). Covers well worn, soiled, rubbed, chipped, abraded, scratched, extremities and corners worn, front cover warped, spine tips torn and frayed, text almost detached from covers, text block is cracked, loose and detached pages (all are present), soiling, tears, browning, scattered spotting, pop-ups have soilig, some have abrasions, a couple are torn, another has pencil scribble, some are becoming unglued from the page, the dog pop-up is in very poor condition. The pop-up scenes are a day at the zoo, farmyard friends, dog's academy and on the beach. In spite of the condition, the chromolithographs are still charming and attractive, esp. the dog's academy. Ernest Nister & Son was one of two major firms in Germany who produced movable books. They hired English writers and often used familiar English scenes. These books were extremely popular and well loved, resulting in very few titles surviving intact. Sold as is. Scarce.
