14 x 9.5, attached supplemental agreement is 11.75 x 7.5, engraved by the American Bank Note Company, central vignette is of the state seal of Michigan, brown borders. Fold creases, light creasing and wear, cancellation marks, one signature lightly smudged. Attached supplemental agreement extends the maturity date of the bond from 1938 to 1968. Signed as president by Jeptha Wade. Wade was one of the founders of the American commercial telegraph system which was instrumental in the opening of the West and the decline of the pony express system. Eventually he became the general agent and later the president of the Western Union Telegraph Company.
