Covers well worn, stained, rubbed, leather peeling, scratched, corners bumped and worn, shelfworn, stickers on lower spine, spine label cracked, chipped, small tears, inner hinges cracked, ink name on title pages (Walter Pardee), ink inscription in vol. 1, creased corners, light soiling, small tears, vol. 2 has staining near the front, light spotting and loose signatures else contents of both are clean and good. According to Garrison and Morse, Gross was the most famous surgeon of his day, ". . . a surgical innovator and an outstanding author of numerous works which have become classics."
