Unissued, brown borders, oblong 9.25 x 15.5, including attached stub. Removed, margins browned with one small spot, torn holes in left margin, two holes are missing small pieces else good. This certificate is no. 51. Thomas Edison developed an iron-nickel battery for electric cars but the research and development took so long that by the time it was ready, cars with internal combustion engines were now dominant and the battery wasn't needed. However, industrial uses were found for this product and it became one of Edison's greatest successes.
