Oblong 9.5 x 16, boards, half leather, gilt ruled w/ gilt lettering, originally bound with 100 stock certificates. Covers worn, soiled, spotted, four small stickers with numbers affixed to front, spine cover lacking and surrounding area lacking pieces of leather with tear, corners bumped, very well worn and tips lacking leather, front cover almost detached, rear cover very loose, lacking free front endpaper, last stock certificate has offsetting, edges browned, contains stock certificate numbers 52-100, all unissued. Thomas Edison developed an iron-nickel battery for electric cars but the research and development took so long that by the time it was ready cars with internal combustion engines were now dominant and the battery wasn't needed. However, industrial uses were found for this product and it became one of Edison's greatest successes.
