Paton, 10 x 7.5, full dark blue straight grain morocco with inset gilt-decorated red leather border, with inset gilt decorated tan leather shield (rampant lion) surmounted by gilt crown; aeg, 268 pp, covers worn (esp at extremities with some loss of leather) hinges weakening, bold presentation inscription by John St. Isobel Anderson, some thumb soil to pages else a striking example of a 19th century custom binding. INCLUDES AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED BY EDWARD DALZIEL, one leaf, 6 x 7.5, folded once with writing on two pages, old tape repair to hinge at top, bur mark from spot of wax else a nice example. Dalziel writes to a J. Cundall concerning some work he did "four letters and four tailpieces," asking for approval. Dalziel engraved many of the illustrations for this book.
