Oblong 8.5 x 15, wraps, unpag. Covers worn, creased, stained, peeling, corners worn, stock certificates are bound in and the first few have creasing, soiling, small tears, remainder are clean and good, none are filled in. The stock certificates are numbered from 100 to 195. Nos. 100-105 were issued and are no longer present except for 100 and 105 which have been cancelled and reattached to their stubs. The Brewer Foundry was one of Tecumseh's largest industries, making clay-working machinery for drain tiles. It expanded around 1910 only to suffer reverses due to the changing economy of the 1920s and 1930s and closed down sometime during the '30s. Attached is a letter from the Lilley State Bank regarding the cancellation and transfer of stock certificates dated Sept. 11, 1930. The bank supposedly closed down in Nov. 1929, and not reappearing until merging with Tecumseh State Bank in August of 1931 under the new name of United Savings Bank of Tecumseh. The attached cancelled stock certificate also bears the date of Sept. 11, 1930. Some of the names on the stubs are Combs, Shull, Detroit Security Trust Co, Lilley Reserve Inc.
