Note Signed by R.A. Alger as Secretary of War Forwarding a Request to President.

One page, oblong 8.5 x 10.75, on back of autograph letter signed by a Henry A. Haigh requesting Alger's help in getting the position as Register in Bankruptcy. Alger's note is secretarily written but "signed R.A. Alger." Alger was Governor of Michigan, U.S. Senator and Secretary of War under McKinley. Haigh was a Detroit Republican attorney, and was involved in railroad and Great Lakes shipping ventures. Also included is nice cabinet card photo of Alger.
