London & New York nd (1840s). 15 x 11", gilt-dec panelled red leather, gilt-dec spine with raised bands, dentelles gilt, aeg, two volumes in one, 66;66pp, 59 of 60 steel engravings, covers worn esp extremities, front cover detached and rear hinge badly cracked, half the outer margin missing 1/8", foxing throughout, some creasing, a few plates with sm vertical tear at gutter, some text pp browned, minor underlining, light smucging & edge tears. Includes works by Leigh Hunt, Miss Mitford and Miss E (Elizabeth) Barrett. Despite all the faults, this is still an attractive book with wonderful steel engravings. FIRST EDITION.
