The Board of Supervisors of Kalamazoo "are indebted and hereby hold themselves bound unto Horace H. Comstock, or his assigns, in the sum of One Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars..." at 7% interest. Comstock founded the village of Comstock in K'zoo County, which for a while was rival to K'zoo. His wife was the niece of James Fenimore Cooper (free useless information).
