Leather with embossed and gilt and silver decorated pastoral scene on front, 7x4.25", floral gilt dec spine torn, detached and missing lower spine, front inner hinge cracked and cover loose, covers and extremities worn, all edges gilt. Inscribed: "Bertha Aggie and Nettie to Edith Christmas 1880". Almost all of the pages are filled in with dates ranging from February 1881 to June 1885. Addressed to "Edith" or "Edie", the notes from her friends and classmates are inspirational quotes/messages. Of intrest is a lock of hair tied with a pink grosgrain ribbon with one entry, another has a pretty floral illustration done with colored pencils and another has a die-cut of a bird and flowers. A nice remembrance of times gone by.
