Frontis engraved portrait of Katherine Philips ("Orinda") on a pedestal, 7 x 4.5", later paneled calf, 248pp + 10pp publisher's catalogue, covers well worn and darkened, extremities bumped and chipping, outer hinges cracking and fragile, missing blanks at front, recto of frontis with a mess of ink ownership markings ("Joan Lloyd, Cardigan…") with a torn red wax seal near bottom of page; another former owner's ink name in upper margin of title page, pp well-used, toned, spotted, etc. SCARCE book of letters between English poet Katherine Philips ("Orinda") and Sir Charles Cotterell ("Poliarchus"). Interestingly enough, Katherine Philips' husband, James Philipps, was the MP for Cardigan! FIRST EDITION!
