There is also a section titled “Anecdotes and Incidents of Travel” including titles such as “A Wonderful Parrot” (about a parrot who survives attempted murder three times) and “The Brightest Luminary” (“Printer’s ink may be black, but it sheds more light than any other luminary, however bright.” deep…). An interesting snapshot of North American infrastructure during massive western expansion and industrial boom.
