One page printed on recto only, 6 x 8”, chipping to edges, two corners cut, fold creases, neat 1” tear at top of one fold crease, back folds repaired (not affecting text on front), else very nice with beautiful calligraphy. Sent to David Rittenhouse, Pennsylvania Treasurer, instructing him to pay forty five pounds ten shillings to the Honorable George Wall Esquire for his attendance in council. SIGNED BY JAMES IRVINE, VICE PRESIDENT OF PENNSYVLANIA. Today, VP of Pennsylvania would be equivalent to the Lieutenant Governor, as Pennsylvania would not become a state for two more years in 1787. Irvine was also an officer of the Continental Army and a member of the Pennsylvania General Assembly.
