One page printed on recto only, on Postmaster General blindstamped letterhead. Letter is from Postmaster General James A. Farley and addressed to James E. West, Chief Scout Executive for the Boy Scouts of America. There is a light “Boy Scouts of America National Council” stamp on right edge, some fold creases and toning else great condition. Farley thanks West for sending him a copy of the Mid-Summer Bulletin. Letter is dated August 27, 1938 AND IS SIGNED BY POSTMASTER GENERAL JAMES FARLEY AT BOTTOM. Farley was Postmaster General under President Franklin D. Roosevelt, while simultaneously serving as chairman of the New York State Democratic Committee and chairman of the Democratic National Committee. In 1940, he authorized the first postage stamp featuring an African American, Booker T. Washington.
