Title page portrait of Whitman, 10.5 x 7", bound in half green cloth with original paper spine label; marbled boards, 382pp, 374pp; 140pp + 2pp "Note at End" (dated Nov. 13, '88), covers rubbed, extremities bumped and lightly fraying, paper spine label toned, creased and chipped, first signature (front fly through copyright page of LofG) detached (but present), textblock edges toned, but still an unopened copy in a custom leather-backed green cloth two-piece book case. According to Blank (BAL, #21431), this edition is LIMITED TO 600 COPIES (binding "a" with no limitation statement), SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, WALT WHITMAN, ON THE TITLE PAGE OF THE FIRST SECTION, "LEAVES OF GRASS" (the 1881 edition).
