50 illustrated original leaves, several are hand-colored, beginning in 1485 with last leaf 1858-1863, in sleeves that have front "windows" that frame the illustrations with printed labels and stored in a cream colored cloth clamshell case (19.5 x 14.5") with printed title labels on front and side, in the case are the title leaf, list of plates and "Herbals Of Five Centuries A Contribution To Medical History And Bibliography" by Clause Nissen (11.5 x 8", printed green wraps, 86pp + charts). Case has scattered spotting, book has offsetting from the leather straps used to store it in the case (as issued) else good. Artists include Johann Petri Passau, Leonhart Fuchs, Hieronymus Bock, Pierandrea Mattioli, John Gerard, William Salmon, Elizabeth Blackwell, Benjamin Maund. A stunning collection, very SCARCE.
