Scrapbook patented June 24, 1873. Illus., 10 x 7", 1/2 gilt ruled red leather, pebbled red boards, 148 pages. Disbound, covers well worn and stained, pages are soiled/stained with edge tears, some of the advertising cards have been torn out leaving holes, couple of pages, couple of pages stuck together, approximately 40 pages are blank (there are six lined and tabbed pages at the front that are not part of the pagination that are also blank except for a brief note). Pasted inside: advertising cards in color of which the majority are chromolithographs, newspaper clippings (poetry and obits). There are also loose newspaper clippings, advertising cards, printed photo (torn) of a military parade (WWI?) in Jackson, color postcard (unused) of Cripple Creek Colorado, a "Reward of Merit" to Nettie Bush from her teacher Alice A. Tingley and so on. Some of the Jackson advertising cards: Bunnel Clothiers, George D. Brown Bookseller, Glasgow Brothers Dry Goods, Lynch & Co. Drugs. Non-Jackson advertising cards include Ficus Carica, Duebar Watch Case, Arm & Hammer (birds), Sun Fire Insurance, Ball's Corsets, Soapine, President Benjamin Harrison advertising Snow Silver Soaps etc. A wide variety of illustrations: farm scene, flowers, dogs, clown on a donkey, Christmas, birds, angels, kids, and a "Battleship In Action", an advertisement for Lion Coffee. Various family names found in the obits: Bush, Wall (Nettie married a man named Wall/Wahl), Winfield, Coykendall and locations in the Jackson area ie. Grass Lake, Leoni, Bath Mills. A couple of items of interest; newspaper clipping, "Auto Pioneer Is Laid To Rest", "Burial of Henry Winfield…a pioneer Detroit auto body builder…at one time a partner of Albert Fisher…Fisher Body Co….(Winfield) was among the first men in Detroit to build bodies for the new-fangled "horseless carriage". And, on page 41 is a visiting card for "William D. Winfield, Neodesha, Kansas". Written below "Uncle of Annette Bush Wall- his children fought in the Confederate Army during the War Between the States". SWAF.
