Covers well worn, rubbed, scuffed/scraped, leather lacking on one corner and on small areas of spine, inner hinges and textblock cracked, bookplates (Vertuteet Opera The Right Honorable Lord Bracco; Burton William Pearl), ink names "R. Gay 1710" and "Henry Bell 1888", frontis torn along gutter, occasional contemporary ink corrections, lacks corner on the last page of the preface (doesn't interfere with text), lacks rear blank else good to very good condition. Contents include: "Dr. Pierce's Letter"; "The Bishop Of Lincoln's Letter"; "Bishop Sanderson's Judgement Concerning Submission To Usurper"; "A Sermon Of Richard Hooker" and a few more. In a postscript by Walton, he writes "If I had to have time to have review'd…before it went to Press, I could have contracted some, and altered other parts…but twas hastned from me…" Perhaps this explains the pagination or lack of it.
