10/10 chromolithographs (some are two to a page), 7.25 x 5", illus. orange paper backed linen wraps, unpaginated linen pages. Covers rubbed, soiled, spine chipped and peeling, textblock detached from covers, contents have light soiling, edges fraying else good. Rhymes include "Little Miss Muffett", "Jack Sprat", "Pat A Cake", Peter Piper". There is an illustrated Robinson Crusoe rhyme showing Crusoe teaching his black slave (Xury, not named), his slave kneeling in front of him holding a large book. The publishers, Hurd & Houghton (1864-1878), list this book in their first trade list in 1864. Colors bright and sharp. Very SCARCE.
