14 copper plates, 7.5 x 5", rebound, gilt ruled half red leather, raised bands, gilt lettering, marbled boards and endpapers, teg, viii, 49. Covers worn and rubbed, leather scuffed/scraped (especially spine), edgeworn, contents have foxing, toning, chipping and light soiling. First edition of this famous medieval tale was based on a fragment published by Wynken de Worde in 1502. The plates have stippling of varying degrees of density thus creating the effect of color.
