Front covers and endpapers detached, covers/spine very well worn/scuffed/scraped and missing pieces, rear hinges cracked and becoming detached, minor worming, occasional light smudging and spotting, slight waviness to pages, bookplates (Robert Prescott, Esq.), pencil name (W.H. Wallace 1880), ink name (Geo. Webber). Textblock tight and very good condition. Inside Vol. II is a contemporary ink note "The original manuscript of both Volumes of this History will be in the Cotton Library by Tburnett". This same handwritten note also appears in the second volume of some of the other sets. The Cotton Library belonged to Sir Robert Bruce Cotton, a well known bibliophile Bishop Burnet appears to heave a sense of humor? As seen on the first page of the subscriber list "A List Of The Subscribers Names As Have Been Sent In Due Time To The Undertaker". Very SCARCE. FIRST EDITION. Extra postage required.
