Covers worn and unevenly darkened, extremities bumped and chipped, some charring to the front covers near the new spine, inner hinges reinforced, contents toned, spotted with minor worming, ink name and bookplate of former owner Jacob Solis Cohen who was a leader in the field of larynology and the United States' first head and neck surgeon, ink name on last printed page (illegible) but dated 1684. BOUND WITH: Erasmus, Desiderius. WITT AND WISOM, Or A Panegyrick Upon Folly...L. Lichfield: London 1683. 157pp + publisher's catalogue. The Cicero title "The Debate..." is also listed as being published in London 1683 but with a different publisher, Abel Swalle and that it was translated by Christopher Wase (whose name is not mentioned in our volume). Both titles are extremely SCARCE.
